Sofiyska Voda is participating in several educational initiatives celebrating the World Water Day, held on March 22

-  “Valuing water” is this year’s theme of the World Water Day under the patronage of the United Nations
 - Sofiyska Voda, operated by Veolia, and the Center of Competence “Clean and Circle” are organizing a meeting – discussion dedicated to the scientific solutions for water preservation
 - The children’s scientific center Muzeiko will tell the kids about the water cycle and how significant water is

The water entering the Iskar Dam needs at least 2-3 years to pass from the dam and continue to the potable water treatment plants before reaching the taps of the citizens of Sofia. This and a lot more interesting facts and innovative solutions for water preservation will be revealed at a scientific discussion which Sofiyska Voda, operated by Veolia, together with the Center of Competence “Clean&Circle” are organizing on the occasion of the World Water Day – March 22.
Scientists from leading universities in the country and practitioners from the WSS operator will present different scientific challenges and modern practical solutions for the preservation of the essential resource. The discussion with topic “Five Scientific Solutions for Water” will be conducted online on 23.03.2021 at 3 pm, and will be open for anyone.  Researchers from Sofia University will present the results of their work over innovative clean water technologies, and researchers from UACEG will summarize the practical benefits of implementing circular solutions in the WSS systems, as a result of a conducted large-scale analysis. Sofiyska Voda, operated by Veolia, will share details about two advanced technologies it has implemented over the last year in the potable and wastewater treatment processes.
On the exact date - 22 March 2021 at 5.30 p.m. the young researchers will be able to learn live on the Facebook page of Muzeiko children’s scientific center about the route of water as well as interesting facts about water – e.g. how it appeared on Earth, how much water do people need, the amount of liquid that camels can drink at a time, etc.
Vasil Trenev, Executive Director of Sofiyska Voda, operated by Veolia, commented: “The company is aware of its responsible role in saving every drop of water, resourcing the world and being a true protector and friend of the environment. Therefore, we organize and support different initiatives to guide children into valuing water; as well as through science to find those working decisions that will allow preserving the water clean for the future generations. The bridge that we build between the business - science – the young generation aims only at uniting more people in the name of water preservation.”
This year the UN marks the World Water Day under the motto “Valuing Water” to remind that still more than 2.2 billion people, or nearly 29% of the population on Earth, do not have access to safe potable water. As per data in the latest report on water of the organization, the effective use of water has increased only by 4% since 2015. The World Water Day has been celebrated by the United Nations since 1992 and the goal is to draw the attention to the value of the water resource and the need to preserve it.
