The primary function of the sewer is to carry wastewater unimpeded to the treatment plant, where it will be treated and returned to nature safe and clean.

One wet wipe, food waste or diaper thrown into the sewer is enough to cause “plugs” in the pipes, and hence flooded buildings or severe damage to costly treatment plant equipment.
