Sofiyska Voda and the water’s route in the European Researchers’ Night
Margita Aleksova, Water Quality Management and Water Facilities Maintenance Manager, presented once again Sofiyska Voda during the European Researchers’ Night, held on 29 and 30 September in several large Bulgarian cities. The agenda in Sofia included also the topic of care for the drinking water, where Sofiyska Voda participated as a partner to the “Clean and Circle” Center of Competence. The visitors of the stand were welcomed with a story about the key role of science in the water’s route: from the water catchment to the tap of the end consumer in order to enable us to drink safely tap water. The stand covered the entire water cycle of the drinking water to the stage of recovering the sludge obtained in the wastewater treatment. One of the attractive exhibits was the compost, in which the main culprits for the organic matter digestion moved.
The idea of the European Researchers’ Night is to bring scientists and their work closer to the general public, thus increasing people’s awareness of the research activities and developments, as well as their effect on everyday life. This, in turn, aims to attract and motivate more young talents to pursue a scientific career.
