First joint investment call of Innovation Starter Accelerator and Sofia Water Company, part of Veolia

Sofia Water Company, part of Veolia, signed a 5-year memorandum of cooperation with the Innovation Starter Agency in 2020

Sofia Water Company, part of Veolia, signed a 5-year memorandum of cooperation with the Innovation Starter Agency in 2020. The company became one of the six long-term partners of the accelerator program until the end of the investment period of the fund manager in 2025.
The accelerator is mandated to fund the ideas of entrepreneurs at the earliest pre-seed stage, “validation of MVP ideas (minimum viable product)” who will apply for the third season of innovation acceleration that begins on March 8, 2021.
10 companies will be approved for participation at the level of idea or prototype, to which employees of Sofia Water Company, part of Veolia, Veolia Energy Varna, and the Innovation Starter Agency will provide technical support, acceleration, mentoring and most importantly - validation in a real corporate environment of innovations while financial support will be ensured by the Innovation Starter Accelerator.

The eligible companies should be specialized in providing solutions into the following main areas:

Water management
Smart water for smart cities – solutions and products related to the management of potable water and waste water

▪ water quality monitoring and analysis
▪ sensors and IoT
▪ waste water reuse
▪ waste water sludge management and utilization

District heating
Accelerating the transformation of the district heating business into smart, efficient and client-responsive utilities

▪ energy savings and optimization
▪ digital solutions for better end customer experience (B2C)
▪ decarbonization
▪ smart solutions for heating and cooling
▪ heat production/consumption and fuel consumption forecast
▪ smart heat metering and tracking
▪ smart applications
▪ data driven technologies
▪ big data analysis and AI
